Saturday, April 14th, 2018, is the 12th annual Lewisburg Chocolate Festival. This is a special day where all things sweet will be served. However, there is something sweeter for choco-holics, all of the profits go to a local charity. This year that's the United Way of the Greenbrier Valley.
The money will help the United Way with a variety of things like meals on wheels, scholarships, food pantries and more.
Erin Hurst, executive director for the United Way of the Greenbrier Valley, and Chairman for the chocolate festival said, not only will the United Way benefit, the city of Lewisburg will also see a boost in activity for the day.
"So we can expect to see between four to five thousand people in downtown Lewisburg so it definitely helps boost our economy for the day, get people into the shops, retail locations, and restaurants," said Hurst.
As for the preparations, it takes nearly four months to get the details perfected.
Hurst said after years of sweet success, the planning pays off.
"We must be doing something right because we've stuck around for over a decade. People love chocolate, so that's not to far of a stretch to throw a festival around such a tasty treat," said Hurst.
From chocolate drinks, to ice cream, and even gluten free treats, Hurst added there's something for everyone.
"People can expect some new tastings even if they have been here time after time," said Hurst.
If you are waiting to get your tasting tickets until Saturday, you better get to Lewisburg early. All of the pre-sale tickets are sold out, there will be a limited number of tickets at city hall in the morning before the fun begins at 11AM.
